Anuruaidehapura Bicycle Tour

Anuruaidehapura Bicycle Tour

Ancient cities don’t get much bigger than Anuradhapura, and few capitals around the world have ever been as long-lasting. Dating back to the fourth century BC, Anuradhapura was the spiritual and secular capital of the island for well over a millennium. At its height, the city was dotted with monasteries and home to over 10,000 monks, many of these monasteries and colossal dagobas can still be seen today. The story of Anuradhapura cycling tour can be mystic at times, and visitors to the sacred site have been said to feel stillness in time.

Anuruaidehapura Bicycle Tour is a tour covering more than a dozen archeological sites of the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura with a local guide who has spent much of his time in this part of the island. Ride alongside scenic paddy fields, hidden villages and cleverly thought-out irrigation systems which have withstood the test of time. Pedal around some of the most architecturally stunning structures including Abayagiri Dagoba, the largest Buddhist monument in the world.

Along the way stop at the Elephant Pond to enjoy a scenic picnic overlooking the pond. After the picnic, guests have the option of continuing the ride. You will also visit the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, a branch of the historical Sri Maha Bodhi in India under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment.

Tour Plan

With Anuruaidehapura Bicycle Tour, you are about to venture out and face the elements so be sure to bring the necessary gear. Forget about your tight shoes, buy some sunglasses to avoid looking into the sun directly, and then put on your stylish hat to protect your face from the sun's radiation. Don't forget your sunscreen to defend against the risk of getting your skin burned by the sun's rays. Also, when you go to worship at a temple, ensure that you are well-dressed either by using temple clothes or long pants(based on what the particular temple requires). I often find myself needing to have a spare shirt or t-shirt when changing weather, or somehow what we are about to do changes. And with these essentials in hand, we are enabled to experience the maximum level of adventure outdoors.

Recommended for children over 8 years, baby seats and tuk-tuks can be arranged

Moderate. We rank it as moderate because of the heat.
